 About the trust

On their 20th anniversary in 1980, Yale Gordon surprised his wife, Peggy Friedmann Gordon, with a wonderful gift - the creation of the Peggy and Yale Gordon Charitable Trust.

The primary purpose of the trust was and is to foster and promote the advancement and performance of classical music in the Metropolitan Baltimore area.

For more than 35 years, the entire Baltimore community has been the recipient of world-class musical performances rendered by musicians of local, national and international renown sponsored by the Trust. The community has been fortunate to hear those who were just beginning their illustrious careers, aided by support from the Gordon Trust; and equally blessed by listening to the brilliance of established musicians whose names appear in the most celebrated venues in the world.

Some of the regular beneficiaries of the trust have been– the Peabody Institute, the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, the Shriver Hall Concert Series at The Johns Hopkins University, the Gordon Performing Arts Center at the JCC; Concert Artists of Baltimore, the Bach Concert Series, the Peggy Friedmann Gordon Music Competition at Towson University, Baltimore Festival of the Arts, Inc., the Lyric Foundation, and concerts at Har Sinai Congregation, Oheb Shalom Congregation, and Baltimore Hebrew Congregation.
